The Link Slot Review

the-linkGamevy’s latest video slot is known as The Link. This new slot machine game, was launched this month after a fair bit of hype.

The developers had been in for quite a few rewards recently, so there was a lot of expectation for The Link. Unfortunately, The Link fails to live up to the hype, and bears nothing in resemblance to the other game show themed slots created by Gamevy.

The Link features 3 reels and 8 paylines, spread over a 3×3 grid. It is a classic slot in all but name, and is woefully short on features.

What you will find in this slot is a range of special shape symbols. Special in the sense that they are simplistic, basic, and totally unexpected. They are certainly not special in any other way.

The Link’s symbols can be used to bag wins in a manner of different combinations, but the wins tend to be small. Graphically, there is much to write how about, either. The Link is primitive, and doesn’t display the same types of quality graphics we have seen in other slots from this small-scale slot

How to play it

The Link requires players to use the sidebar to alter their bets. Not that they will have a whole lot wiggle room when it comes to those bets. At its cheapest, this slot will set them back around about $1 per spin, which is rather costly for a slot of this calibre; moreover a slot which contains virtually no special features.

If you wish to push the boat out (not that too many players will want to), maximum wagers can cost as much as $10 in all. There is a distinct lack of options in this game, and that makes it even less likeable.

How much can you win?

Given the poor showing that The Link has offered us thus far, we were hoping for something magnificent in the jackpot department. It fails here, too.

The Link is able to offer you a non-progressive prize, which is worth 800 coins. You do actually get two ways to bag those wins (either with wilds, or by landing diamonds on the paylines), but offering us two ways to win what amounts to a small non-progressive jackpot is hardly going to save The Link at this point.

Special symbols

Wild symbols: Fortunately, there is a wild symbol in the slot, and that brings at least a little bit of welcome relief. Wild symbols appear as stars, and can replace any other symbols in the game with ones you need to bag payline wins. Unfortunately, wilds are no good on their own, and must form part of a winning combination to pay out anything at all.

Free spins / Bonus features

The final nail in the coffin with The Link is that it contains no special features at all. This is truly bad news. Even Microgaming has managed to develop classic slots with special features.

There are fruit machines out there which are far simpler than The Link, and even they contain a few nudges or bonus features. Save for a wild, there is nothing special, or bonus-like about The Link whatsoever.

Overall experience and final thoughts

After a promising year, Gamevy have really let everybody down with this slot. The lack of any special features isn’t the true deal breaker. That comes from that fact that Gamevy actually think The Link is worth a minimum wager of $1 per spin. So what if it offers 8 paylines over 3 reels.

Nobody in the right mind is going to wager that kind of cash (even if it is only $1) on a slot which gives you next to nothing in return.

The very low pay-rate (93%) is the final straw. We could tell you not to bother playing The Link, and we could point you in the direction of other similarly themed slots which are cheaper, but we really don’t have to.

The Link is going to be hard to find (given the small-scale nature of its developer), and any player who is unfortunate enough to try it out will quickly learn from their mistakes. We certainly won’t fall for playing this slot twice.
