This new game may have familiar symbols, but its theme is wholly new, and is centred on a mythical Chinese emperor – the first Chinese emperor – Huangdi.

What we love
This is a slot machine game which contains a one-of-a-kind theme. It is a new theme, and one most players will not be familiar with. It takes a little reading up if you’re interested in the legend of the Yellow Emperor, but none of that is necessary to play this game.

Players can prosper from both stacked wilds and expanding symbols in this slot. Both can make the difference to a win and a big win. The features can appear in the free spins bonus round, and the base game.
The most dashing part of it all, is that symbols which appear expanded on the first reel can also turn similar icons on the other reels into expanding wilds, and that will also boost your wins.
What we do not like
Microgaming’s simplistic setup. The developers haven’t gone out of their way to produce anything spectacular in the features department. In fact, we’ve seen most of what this slot has to offer before in other Microgaming titles.
If one was to take a quick look at the free spins bonus, for example; if you have played a Microgaming video slot before (or any video slot, come to think of it) you will not be remotely puzzled by how it all works. Microgaming has done such a good job on creating an original theme, one just wishes that they’d have followed it up with original features.
Worth playing?
Even though there is a touch of the predictable in this game, the slot is still very much playable. We’ve enjoyed getting to know Huangdi so much that we’ve even taken an interest in the mythical person that the slot is based on. Gameplay can be a little dull, and graphics are predictable, too.
