Thunderkick’s Retro Looking Slot Spectra Just Hit The Casinos

spectra slot logoSpectra is the latest release from Thunderkick, and it is coming to all good casinos offering software from this developer right now. The slot machine may not look new – since it features a fairly retro design – but make no mistake about it, Spectra is brand-spanking new.

The video slot features an 80s theme, blended with that of the legendary one-armed bandit slots, and if that was all it offered it would only appear to a select few. Spectra offers more bonuses with wilds than any other slot, though, and that gives it huge appeal.

It has been quite some time since Thunderkick was able to release a game which impressed on so many levels. The slot offers you 5 reels and 30 paylines to bet on (and you’ll even get a deal on those paylines), and it won’t cost you any more than 100.00 a pop. Expect to be able to win as much as 2,000 coins in total, if you manage to strike it lucky whilst playing this new slot.

What we love

As we’ve hinted at, there is a special deal on paylines in this game. Spectra contains 5 reels and 30 paylines, though you are only ever going to end up wagering on 10 at a time. Minimum bets therefore cost just 0.10 a go, and maximum stakes are – as we have mentioned – fixed at 100.00 a go. You get 20 paylines for free, in a sense.

One also has to love the wild features in this game. Wilds don’t just substitute for other symbols; nor do they simply act as the best paying icons in the game. They are also capable of nudging themselves down onto the reels to help you win, and capable of triggering re-spins. Few other slots can match Spectra for what its wilds can do for you.

What we do not like

The theme is pretty dull, if we’re being honest. The graphics are rather mundane, and just don’t have that snap and flash that some other Thunderkick slots have been able to deliver with their own graphics.

The retro theme could have worked, if Spectra was a little flashier, but the fact that the theme of this game is rather boring isn’t exactly a deal breaker. We can look beyond that because the wild symbols are so prosperous in this video slot.

If there was one other area which could do with a bit of picking up, it is in the payment department. The symbols in this slot are decent enough when it comes to big wins, but smaller paying icons don’t seem to deliver enough in terms of payload.

Worth playing?

Spectra should actually appeal to most players. Normally, retro slots and ones with classic fruit machine themes should only appear to a select bunch of players, but we’ve got a feeling that Spectra will do well for itself. The new slot launched at the beginning of September, so you should already be able to find it at all good casinos offering Thunderkick software.
