Holiday Season is Play ‘n Go’s newest Christmas-themed slot, and it has been launched well ahead of schedule.
Most Christmas slots don’t receive launches until December when the developer believe that the crowd will be interested in giving them a whirl. Play ‘n Go have tried to be crafty by releasing the slot in November.
Their hope is – no doubt – that it will give the slot a chance to get ahead of other developers titles as the number one Christmas themed slot this winter. We’re not so sure, though. There are nifty elements to the slot, and there’s also a few bad ones.
One can instantly love the fact that Play ‘n Go have decided to make this game a more modern Christmas themed slot. It has a nice and easy, everyday Christmas theme, instead of the usual rocking horse and wooden doll, 70s Christmas themed slots we see frequently.
The game features a petite 5-reel, 10-line structure, and that may or may not be enough to appease the majority of Xmas slot players.
What we love
You get what you expect in the Holiday Season slot. There are wilds and scatters on the reels, and none of them is particularly creative or original in terms of what they offer. The free spins feature is far more inventive.

It’s not a new concept (as we’ve seen it in other Play ‘n Go games such as Pimped) but the setup of this feature is at least clever. Players can bag a total of 5 free spins in the bonus game. Each of those 5 spins is a Win Spin, guaranteeing players a win.
Players can also pocket an additional 3 games by landing scatters on the reels, and those spins are guaranteed to provide players with wins, too.
What we do not like
The payline structure is a bit basic. Ten paylines is almost certainly not going to satisfy the vast majority of players in the online casino world.
You can also adjust the paylines, but why you would do so is baffling. There will almost certainly be 243 ways to win Christmas themed slots out this winter, and any of those will trump this game in terms of paylines.
There is also a very good chance that most other slots will trump this one when it comes to graphics. The graphics in Holiday Season are basic at best. We expect slightly more from a developer which has a good reputation for graphics.
We understand that Christmas slots aren’t supposed to be 3D, graphically animated slots, but surely Play ‘n Go could have come up with something better than this.
Worth playing?
At this moment in time, Holiday Season is still worth a look. The main reason for that is because few other Christmas themed slots are out on the net yet. Once other developers start unveiling their own Xmas slots, there is every chance that this one will be surpassed by something bigger and better.
In fact, we’re almost sure of it. That being considered, it seems that Play ‘n Go’s plan to release their Holiday Season slot early, to give it a jump start on the competition may not pay off at all.
